A nice, relaxing cup of tea is an excellent tension tamer. There are many varieties of tea that help with stress, such as chamomile or kava kava. Leaving it to steep in hot water for ten minutes will produce a strong tea. Try to drink a soothing cup of tea at least once a day, preferably early in the morning or right before you go to bed.
Don’t use habits which are unhealthy as a way to deal with stress, instead find healthy, more productive ways to deal with them. If you drink or eat too much when stressed, for example, take up exercise. By replacing unhealthy methods with ones that are healthier, your body will be able to remain strong and healthy so that it can better handle any daily stress.
If your life is stressful, add exercise to your daily routine. The benefits of a quick jog or peaceful walk are often overlooked by many, and they miss out on the vast improvements to mood and mentality they could be getting. All it takes is a little bit of effort in order to make big differences in your life. Regular exercise is a great stress reducer. Take up walking, jogging, swimming, bicycling, aerobics or dancing. When you exercise, your body produces endorphins that help to elevate your mood. These endorphins also act as natural pain killers, thus reducing the stress that chronic pain can bring. Add regular exercise to your routine, and watch your stress melt away.
Come face to face with whatever problem is stressing you out. Give it a rating on a scale of one to ten. Often times, you will gain perspective and realize that whatever is stressing you out is not quite as bad as it seemed in the first place, especially when compared to other things.
Do not stress over small stuff. If you are bothered by every little thing that does not go your way, your life will be overwhelmed by stress. Little things usually do not matter in the big scheme of things. If something will not matter in a week, you should not worry about it.
Do not clench your jaw. When you are under a heavy load of stress, your whole body feels it, but it’s especially felt in your jaw. Gently hold your hand around your jaw while your jaw is closed. Then, take a breath. Finally, exhale while releasing your jaw. This is a neat tip that will immediately help you feel less stressed.
